Dear Santa...


When was the last time you wrote a letter? And I don't mean a Post-it scribbled with "There's potato salad in the fridge" or hastily signed Christmas Cards. I'm talking about an honest-to-goodness handwritten letter.

Do you remember what you wrote about that last time? Tell us about it.

I often write real letters. It's so much more fun that email and texting. I love getting real letters in the post - instead of the usual bills and junkmail.

I haven't sent anyone a handwritten letter in years, and nobody I know has, either. What's the point? You pay postage and wait days and sometimes weeks before you get a reply. What kind of way is that to carry on a conversation? My friends and I exchange long, thoughtful emails, carrying on discussions that would take forever if we were limited to pen and paper.

Sylvie: Those things come to my mind too, that's why I'm hesitant to write snail mail now. But we gotta admit the charm of writing and receiving one is so much different!
