When should you walk away?

Do you walk away when you've been defeated? Or when you're close to being defeated?
Do you walk away when you see a better place to be in? Or do you stay until that better place makes room for you?
Do you walk away only when you're hurt? Or do you walk away before you hurt yourself or someone else?
Is it a good thing to walk away?
Or should you
stay?

Flashes of memories
Great question! I nearly lost my best friend because I could never walk away - I always had to stay and defend myself. I`ve learnt since then that it`s better to walk away during a heated moment before words are exchanged that don`t really need to be exchanged and return when things have calmed to simmer.
Then again most people don`t have such a short fuse

Raven: Hahaha!
Jarrah: I will do just that!
Lara: I love that answer. Thanks thanks. When I'm drained of all emotions, or nearing that emptiness, I will definitely walk away.

Sometimes I think it is clear when we need to walk away, when we know we are only becoming more and more frustrated with no reward for our efforts in sight. Those walks are brisk and we don't look back, knowing the future cannot be any worse if we have anything to do with it! At other times, however, we find ourselves walking away sad and lonely and full of regret.
I think what we are really asking ourselves is whether or not it is worthwhile sticking around. And when we're not sure (and I'm not sure) we can only hope that some good, hard soul searching will help.
