When are you most productive?
December 7th 2007 10:31
Can you tell what time of the day you are most eager to work and create? Schedule your writing time around that.
Sounds like common sense, but hey, we all need that gentle reminder every now and then.
It's easy to get sucked into a routine. Writing because you HAVE to and not because you WANT to sucks big time and invites a mental block easily.
So make time to write during the most productive parts of your day. If your best ideas come when you burn the midnight oil, during lunchtime, or come twilight, make sure nothing can bog down your creative juices during those moments.

This is so true...I try to go with the flow of my body and when it most wants to write...it's so hard to get it to work if it isn't that time.
Great post

Flashes of memories
What you say is so true! I get inspired at the most inopportune of moments. Mostly I am at work, luckily I have scrap paper at hand and I can jot most of my thoughts down.
But like tonight i was at a BBQ and staring at some lights and a thoughts struck me - all of a sudden I wanted to go and sit at a computer and write, but i couldn`t .
To me inspiration can strike you at any time and you have to be prepared for it, even discreetly.
Then if I want to write and the environment suits me - there is no stopping me!

I tend to function on about 4 hours sleep - habitual and not necessarily healthy I'm sure - but I love the solitude of that time of the day (or night) as it were.
It's also a time when you're unimpeded by the issues that the dawn will bring.
Interesting post.
Stay well.

Flick Wit
The middle of the night is when I do best. I don't do anything well in the mornings. Including writing comments. So please excuse this one, as it is not yet 7am.
