What's your prom story?
March 7th 2008 10:16
I wore a poofy ivory dress. Poofy.
My best friend and her boyfriend picked me up. My date, her boyfriend's friend, would meet us at the hotel.
I saw him holding a red rose. No corsage?, I wondered. Whatever. He was my longtime crush and I finally had a date with him. Nevermind if it was my best friend's boyfriend who coerced him to be my date.
My friends and I sat at a round table. All of them were with their boyfriends, I was with this guy I had only seen thrice in my life but was deeply infatuated with.
He hardly talked to me the whole night.
Slow songs came up and my friends all trooped to the dance floor with their dates. Mine remained seated, looking at the ceiling.
A slow song came to an end. He looked at me and said, "You want to dance?"
Jerkoid.
He had to leave early. His grandparents would scold him if he came home too late. He said goodbye to my friends and waved at me.
Yeah, bye.
My Dad picked me up, my little sisters hanging out at the backseat.
"How was it?," he asked.
I shrugged as I struggled to fit my dress into the car.
It was poofy. Too poofy.
*****
Yeah, mine was a disaster.

Flashes of memories
oh dear! sorry to hear yours wasn`t up to your expectations!
my galfriends and I decided that the night was ours and no boys were allowed (generally it ended up with some sort of dramas when we all went out in our respective couples) - we went to an all girls school and made the night our last night together as our little gang before we all broke away and spread our wings to fly around the world.
As a result we had a great night, danced the night away together, watched the sun rise on our new lives and went home with stars of a different kind dancing in our heads.

So You're Getting Married
Ash: How I wish I were a part of your prom night instead! That sounded like an awesome plan. Maybe when I have daughters someday I'll tell them about it. It sure beats having a stinky date!
