What did you think of Breaking Dawn?

August 5th 2008 02:42
Breaking Dawn

The final book in the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn, was released last weekend.

Will Bella become a vampire? Who will she choose -- Edward or Jacob? What comes next for the three lead characters?

These questions filled my head (and other Twilighters' heads) for a good year or so. And our questions were finally answered just a few days ago.

I've read the book and... I didn't like it very much.

What did you think of Breaking Dawn?

(If you don't want to read spoilers, do not read the comments section. A friendly note. Thanks!)

Girl in love with Vampire who is also repulsed by her is also semi-involved in a love triangle with a Werewolf in what could have been the sappiest, most desperate and lonely trilogy I've ever forced myself to read.

For all of the hype these books were essentially written for someone functioning with the brain of a 5 year old in desperate need of attention.

If there was a single novel with a less intelligent plot, thesis or purpose to its entire trilogy and story, I would find the nearest weapon and brutally destroy myself with it until I was a disfigured corpse in a pile of blood and organic waste just to avoid reading it.

However...

The "Lonely Women Between 15 and 40" Demographic is a big money-maker and won't let anyone down.

Which is why my next book: "Wild Anime Vampire Sex"

Is a sure-fire Best-Seller.

I think breaking dawn was amazing. The fact of Renesmee, Edward and Bella being together. Jacob getting someone he loved, Nessie. He alos became Alpha of antoher pack. The Volturi gettting involved. The fact of her being a vampire. I liked her human better though but I wanted her to be chaged. Edward and Bella are now together forever with their child. She can still see Charlie also. The wedding and honeymoon where amzing. I was glad they got a happily every after and Jacob didnt get Bella but someone else. Alice and Jasper leaving was sad but, they came back and saved everyone.

This was one of the best novels I read. No best series I read. Stepheine Meyer is amazing.

not that great as the first book though after reading breaking dawn it made all my readings of the first three books, completely not worthwhile.

I really loved twilight. I thought new moon and eclipse were alright, though nothing special. I was truly disappointed in breaking dawn, it seemed rushed and the characters seemed to change completely, i didn't recognise Edward and Bella as the same people. I think Stephenie Meyer should have left Twilight as a stand alone book. The series will never be the same for me and I hope to God that the movie is at least half-way decent.

yeah, im half way through the book and im not sure whether to finish it..

its disappointing.. :[

i feel so bad for jacob..
the first section was all about sex.

and bella changing into a vampire..
she is not bella anymore! :[[

its still very interesting..
but not as the first three.

the first three books were so intriguing that i had to have my mom yell at me to stop reading..
but breaking dawn.. thats a different story..
i was willing to stop..

I thought Breaking Dawn was really wierd in the beginning with all that gross stuff with Bella and Edward and then it got a little bit better when Jacob told the story but to me it was kinda... i dunno, hollow? it was pretty much empty. The whole book was a little rushed and not all the questions and points were addresed, for example, what happened with Jacob as the alpha? what's the relationship between the pack and jake? the first three books all dealt with pretty much the same 3 people- Bella, Edward and Jake. And then Nessie appears out of nowhere! The whole book is mostly centered around her. It was a whole new experience but not as good as the first three. I need to know why Stephenie Meyer did this to her last book.

I was definitely disappointed n breaking dawn. Everything felt rushed, and like was already explained, the characters really didn't even seem to be the same people anymore. It felt like meyers was writing this bok just to finish the series instead of really puuting her passion into it like she did the others. I really didn't like it.

it didn't feel like the ending of the series. its also like she created a whole new main character, nessie, and pushed bella and edward to the side. It was too much the fairytale ending, like she gave up and got lazy. Everybody got the happy ending, no new lesson or anything..and there really wasn't much of a climactic build up. I thought breaking dawn was disappoointling boring even thoughi loved the first three novels...

I agree! I am very annoyed first of all with the whole baby thing in the first place. I didn't like how fast they got married. I was hoping that the issue would have them fighting to get married. I also don't like how Bella turned into a sex crazed teenager. I was just very disappointed. It felt like the book was just written quickly to end the series.

i agree.. didn't impress me. didn't make my heart race or skip a beat really.

most of the things that happened.. the pregnancy, the imprinting, the no-fight-with-the-volturi were VERY VERY Predictable..

am about to write my "review" on it.

I LUVED THE BOOK SOOOOO MUCH!!! i fully agree tho that it would be soooo much more exciting if they fought the Volturi. =( oh well other than that i'm not complaining... i just think everyone who is complaining how bad it is, is just bluffing, they're just disapionted because it is "suppossingly" the last book. I THINK THEY ARE INSANE, THE BOOK WAS FABULOUS!!! I deeply wish that there is gunna be another one, PLEASE!!!!

hmmm I love how all the people who thought it was great have spelling issues.... I don't know. I was kind of disappointed too. Some parts were pretty good, but some parts were just weird. I didn't like how Bella was super protective of Renesmee when she was pregnant. I mean really, we know she's not right in the head, but I don't think she'd acctually be that stupid. Another thing wrong with that is that she couldn't stand to cause Edward any pain, and her pregnancy was definitely doing that. At the end especially it definitely seemed rushed. She could've gotten a lot more creative, but she didn't.

are you pucking kidding the book was so perfect.
i read it.there where plenty twist.like bella having a baby?who would of thought of that.and we new jacob was going to imprint but on bella's baby wow HUGE twist.and everyone wanted an epic fight scene.bullstuff. would anyone really wanted to have read that someone died. that would have been a terrible ending. the only problem i had to the book was that edward totally naglected the baby there was rarely anything about edward adoring the baby.and i would have though we would of balanced tha love of bella out with the baby.but that was the only thing i didnt like to i rate the book a 9.5 quit bitching stephenie didnt do that bad it could have been wayyyyyy worse.

I applaud Stephanie Meyer, she is a talented writer, and she expresses things in her own way that makes her writing very intrigueing. But the way she rounded off her series was dissapointing. For one, there were a number of spelling errors, which proves the fact that she seemed to have rushed this last book. It appears to me that the thrive and popularity of this series has become Meyer's downfall. She was so anxious to meet the deadline that she forgot what she was writing, she forgot the reason why we were all anticipating the last book; the result being a catastrophic jumble of words that didn't depict the image of the characters that were already implanted in our heads , a jumble that depressed readers and fans when she denied them a plot to excite, she instead gave them a plot to yawn at and push away.
But we cannot deny that the trilogy beforehand was phenomenal.

Am half way through and loving it!!

If Bella doesn't become a vampire I will drink my own blood and also get very pissed off!!!

I am also organising a private screening of Twilight (the film) in first week of January - it commences on the 8th but will try to get it the Monday prior. I have about 100 people so far but if you want to be put on the list and receive some email updates email your email address to jkdigitaldesigns@gmail.com

I can't wait to finish the book so I can read the comments now!!

I don't get why people hated Breaking Dawn so much and thought it ruined the series. What was so bad about it? That it had a happy ending? It was supposed to! Do you really thing SM would have really just left the series off with a tragic ending? I personally loved Breaking Dawn. It's my favorite book so far!

i read the first 3 books in one week. then right after i read them, the 4th book came out. i went out and bought the 4th one and i had no idea that it was going to take me almost a month to finish!!! it wasn't too long, it just wasn't interesting!!!! i read up until like chapter 30. but then it was really hard to finish. so i stopped reading it. NOT because i was sad. i was not sad at all for some reason. i truly truly just wasn't that interested. it was so rushed. and i agree so much that the characters lost who they were. i wanted bella to be a vampire, but i hated when she was one. so i dunno?! i think stephanie couldn't find anything to write about. because the whole book they kept talking about how the volturi was coming, coming, coming!! they thought up strategies, she dragged on about all the people who came to help them fight the volturi, she dragged on about how they were all going to die, and then in like the last chapter the volturi is like okay go free. and i mean i didn't want anyone to die, but i mean come one! it was just so stupid. im sorry stephanie, but i think you really didn't think this one thru, and you left alot of us dissappointed. i miss the old edward and bella. uhghfghgo;sdho;h

Stop complaining about it. Stephanie Meyer is a talented writer and she pulled the ending together greatly! She also finished the books with twists at the end that makes it even better. The twists keep you reading wanting to know what happens next, espeically when she adds the volturi, that was just amazing. Though it would have been awesome if there would have been a winning fight against the volturi, im not complaining. She did an amazing job with this book! I love it,! <333

Breaking Dawn was a draggged out peice of shit.
There was NO action and Edward not only was not there (which I understand because he was upset with himself for Bells' Pregnancy) but he was not himself in any way. Everybody was to out of character to even bc a part of the saga. It reminded me of Fanfiction. Which although it is an amazing site it does not fit in to the "professional" book world.
You would think that after writing such a wonderful book as The Host we could be complaining about how hard it is to understand.
It was to rushed and it ruined the entire series for me.
So thanks Stephenie Meyers, I guess I'll stick to a good author.

In all honesty I think stephines new found fame got to her head and she thought 'I can write this book half-assed and everybody will love it...because Im stephenie Meyers' I ended up throwing away Breaking Dawn because just looking at the book made me want to slap smeyers and ask her wtf she was thinking when she wrote it.
I love Jacob and Edward both the same but towards the middle and end of the book Bella and Jacob were the highlights of the book. Bella chose Edward..why wasnt the book more focased on them instead of the sick "child" they had.
Ughh this book ruined the Twilight Saga of me.

I kinda liked a bit of it but the whole baby thing?!? i thought that just killed the series.... I was kinda hoping that Bella would just leave Jacob alone and be with Edward. BUT NO! God... she says she doesnt like hurting Edward, but she wants to have a baby and this hurts Edward -.-'. Oh come on! And ye.. why is Jacob and Renesmee the big highlight of the book?! Im disappointed. But i like the whole battle (well, the whole volturi thing at the end.) and the whole mystery of WHY the hell alice would leave...
