Hi! My name is Toni and this is my blog on writing prompts. Sometimes inspiration strikes me anywhere, sometimes I badly need a jumpstart. This blog helps with those jumpstarts, when you need a little push. Hopefully the writing prompts open your mind further to new ideas and help encourage you into writing more. A little writing help never hurt!

I grasped for the promise in your words

Woman at the steps

You told me -- 6 o'clock, twilight, on the fifth step, on the anniversary of the day we first said hello.

You told me -- I would wear my hair down the way you always wanted it, you would wear those cute red sneakers we bought together.

You told me -- we wouldn't act like years have passed between us, like the silence all those years would hinder conversations when we'd meet again.

You told me -- we would be the same, you would hold my hand, we would intertwine our fingers and leave regrets behind, face the promises of what-if's.

You told me -- 6 o'clock, twilight, on the fifth step, on the anniversary of the day we first said hello, on the anniversary of the day we met, on the anniversary of the day we said "I do."

*****

What happened? Who is speaking? What's your story?

He/she may have died (sad I know, but I don't really want to see this as another broken hearted story) - and this person who is speaking obviously is missing their other half.

Toni, the images in my mind are that of Bea and John Lloyd as Basha and ---. Lovers who drifted apart, remembered their love for each other yet need time and space apart, promised to return when all is well. Today is the promised day.

The death of innocence is never easy. Do we thoughtlessly surrender it or offer it up deliberately on the bloody alter of life. A muse's life is never easy WYS. Raven
