13 Last Minute Valentine Gift Ideas
February 14th 2008 03:29
Crazy schedules can get in the way of planning Valentine's with your sweetheart, so here are some quick ideas to get you started:
1. Wear something red and sexy! You can't go wrong with that, right? Right? Or if you don't have anything to wear, shed your clothes, grab a red ribbon and tie it around your favorite body part. Nuninuninu. Then surprise your Valentine when s/he comes home.
2. Run to the grocery and grab every red edible thing you see. Tomatoes, strawberries, apples, cherries, red wine, Red Horse, roasted red peppers... then arrange everything beautifully and appetizingly. You have a Valentine's feast!
3. Write a love letter. A heartfelt note is much better than any commercially printed card.
4. Surprise your sweetheart with a serenade. In the middle of traffic, the mall, a restaurant... start singing that sappy love song! Adam Sandler's "Grow Old With You" is a sweet choice. Make sure to avoid flying tomatoes.
5. Write a poem stating the 101 Reasons You Love Your Sweetheart. What are you waiting for? This is a pretty long list. Get started!
6. Run to the market, buy flowers in pink and red (some vendors sell fallen petals), then shower places your lover frequents with the plucked petals. Try putting petals all over his/her workplace, the bedroom, the dining room, the kitchen, the car seat, inside his/her work bag or wallet... shower your sweetheart's day with petals everywhere!
7. Buy a stuffed toy and tell your sweetheart how it reminded you of them. Gotta make it sweet okay!
8. Dedicate a song to him/her over the radio. You know you want to do this.
9. Grab a white shirt, a red marker and write " I LOVE (your sweetheart's name)" and wear that shirt all day as proof of your undying love. Don't stay home though. The point is to parade this shirt to show your love!
10. Make tons of heart cutouts and shower in nooks your sweetheart accesses constantly. See Idea #6. Except that on these heart cutouts, you can write little love notes.
11. Watch "Sleepless in Seattle" at home with a shared bowl of popcorn and tell your sweetheart you're MFEO. Pop in other romantic movies and go all out on sweetness!
12. If your sweetheart really loves something that you hate, make that sacrifice today! You don't see the point of a ball being passed from person to person, but he loves basketball. Go watch a game or shoot hoops with him to mark this day as extra-special. She may be into shopping and you absolutely loathe it, but why not offer to be her non-complaining shopping companion for the day? You'll make your sweetheart happy and you'll feel happy that they're happy too.
13. Visit the place where you had your first date. But since this is a last-minute idea, other couples may have occupied that place already so... visit other places where you had your "firsts" -- first kiss, first walk in the rain, first place where you said I love you, the list can go on and on.
I hope this Thursday Thirteen has given you SOME ideas! This will make for some interesting stories to tell too!
Happy Valentine's Day!
